A Loving Reminder for My Children: No- Spend week
Dear Claire and Peter,
As you read this post one day, I want to take a moment to share something special with you. While we are helping ourselves and others to accomplish weekly goals, it’s also a huge challenge for mom to write about them and prepare them for this blog! But I’m improving my self-discipline to be better for me and for you two by sticking with this journey for a whole year.
So, welcome to week seven, my dear children and our wonderful readers!
This time of year, I really get an itch to travel. This week, though, we are going to focus on our finances with a “no spend week.” Yes, you may need to buy fuel and pay any bills that are due, but remember, we do not need to buy that new doormat from Walmart, another lip liner, another coat, or Nutella—though we all know how delightful it is! Add them to your Amazon list or a note elsewhere and, with the power of self-discipline, force yourself to wait.
Between the free resources on the Here They Grow blog and the free resources on my other blog, http://www.EfficiencyPlan.com , there are tons of activities to keep you engaged and on track for your no-spend challenge.
And to those of you driving a Mercedes, I’m talking to you, too! Let’s get real, girl! A spending break can be a good thing for everyone from time to time. Remember, money doesn’t grow on trees, and the economy fluctuates.
If you’re planning to travel this year, consider this an opportunity to save a little extra and spend more intentionally where it truly matters to you.
Do you need some things for school, such as the best attendance tracker in the land or lunch box notes for kids? I encourage you to visit the Here They Grow Etsy shop. Browse around and make any purchases before Saturday, when the no-spend challenge begins.
With comradery,
Ashley
