Week 17: Celebrating Learning and Growth Together!

Welcome to Week 17, everyone! As we dive into this week, I want to reflect on the power of goal-setting and embracing learning in our lives. If you know me, you’ll understand that I have a passion for pursuing goals with a bit of intensity! With the 20th week of the year approaching, I’m feeling more motivated than ever to make these next few weeks count—let’s dive into this year and strive to achieve great things!

This week’s challenge is fun and simple: announce and write down what we’ve learned daily. It can be anything that sparks or catches your interest—personal insights, facts, skills, or memories. For families, especially those homeschooled, this exercise offers a fantastic opportunity for parents to see what stood out to each child throughout their day. It’s a wonderful way to encourage reflection and engage in meaningful conversations about their experiences.

As a reminder, we are a week ahead in our journey, so I can send these posts to you and provide some feedback on how it’s going. I also do this so my children can refer back to these posts with interest someday to see what our family was up to during this time. Here’s what we learned on the first day and why we were so thankful to have our “What We Learned Today” sheets to write it down on.

I learned I can never wait too long to cut my muscadine vines, or it will be much more work. We have been growing muscadines for around seven years now, and we have a great little course we created to work through with our kids as we learned about muscadines. You can find it in our Etsy shop. Dad learned that our family has to be intentional with our daily time to make the most of it. Claire learned that if she says, “I can do this,” things become easier. This opened up a wonderful conversation about the power of mindset, prayer, and positive thinking, and Peter learned that he should take a nap; he skipped his nap on this day and was tired in the evening.

Now, here’s an interesting point to motivate you to write it down rather than just recalling it out loud to yourself: the morning after we did our write-ups, some of us struggled to remember what the whole group had shared. Having it written down brought those learnings back to the forefront, effectively locking in the knowledge better and enriching the value of this week’s challenge.

To keep track, you can fold a piece of paper in half and stick it on your fridge as a daily reminder to write down and reflect on what you have learned. For those looking for a ready-set-go way to organize your thoughts, we have a neat, downloadable template available in our Etsy shop! This is what our family is using this week. It’s a helpful tool for everyone to celebrate their daily discoveries, whether big or small. We also use this template when going on trips, and if you like it for trips, you should check out our field trip questionnaire available in English or Spanish; hint: if you or your child have learned any Spanish, get the Spanish one for practice!

So, join us and embrace this week with excitement and support one another in our learning journeys. I hope you’ll join us in this challenge!

Here’s to a week filled with discovery and personal growth! 💖
