The Reflection Challenge

reflection challenge - bonus
The Reflection Challenge

We have posted all our 52 week challenge of the year — and honestly, it’s hard to believe we’re here.

What a year this has been. I’m deeply thankful for every one of you who joined us in this 52-week journey. Whether you participated in every challenge, tried a handful, or simply followed along quietly, you were part of this experience — and that matters.

This week’s challenge is different. It’s quieter. Slower. And perfectly suited for closing a meaningful season.

✨ This Week’s bonus Challenge: Reflect

Each day this week, take a few moments to reflect on the challenges from this past year.

Consider:

  • which challenges you stuck with
  • which ones you fell short on — and why
  • how that feels when you notice it
  • whether it sits peacefully, twinges a bit, or surprises you

If you read certain challenges but didn’t actively participate, that isn’t wrong. In fact, it’s worth asking yourself what you did gain from simply reading. Maybe it brought calm. Maybe it sparked creativity. Maybe it gave you language or perspective when you needed it most.

That isn’t a loss — that’s a win.

🗣️ Reflecting as a Family (or in Conversation)

Reflection doesn’t need to be formal or exhaustive.

If you’re doing this challenge as a family, it’s perfectly fine to simply sit together and bring up one or two challenges from the year and talk about just those. Someone might ask, “Who remembers a challenge we did this year?” and see where the conversation naturally leads.

The next day, you might bring up one or two different challenges. There’s no pressure to recall everything at once. Often, memories surface gradually when we give them space.

You can also reflect with coworkers, with friends, or quietly on your own.

What matters isn’t how many challenges you remember — it’s the act of remembering, noticing, and giving yourself permission to reflect honestly.

🌱 Looking Back — and Looking Ahead

This is also a natural time to think about what comes next.

Maybe you’re just reading this post now. Maybe you’ve just discovered the Here They Grow blog and are thinking, These challenges sound great — I didn’t do them before, but I want to now.

If that’s you, you’re right on time.

You can start at the beginning and work through the challenges, pick and choose the ones that resonate, or select a single challenge and practice it consistently.

Growth doesn’t require a perfect starting point.
