Week 36 Family Challenge: Share Three Things You Learned Today

It’s Week 36 of our 52-Week Family Challenge, and this one is extra special because it’s so simple, yet so meaningful. Each evening, pause as a family and share three things you learned today.

That’s it—just three things from each person. No writing, no crafts, no extra supplies. Just a chance to hear each other’s voices and peek into what stood out most in each of our days. You’ll be amazed at how something so small can spark such sweet conversations.

Why This Challenge Works

When we pause at the end of the day to share what we’ve learned, something sweet happens. It’s not just about remembering facts—it’s about opening a window into each other’s worlds.

  • It helps us hold on to the good stuff. Speaking what we’ve learned out loud makes it “stick” in our minds a little more.
  • It shows us what matters most. Sometimes what our kids share is unexpected—little moments we might have missed if we hadn’t asked.
  • It gives us a reason to slow down and talk. Instead of rushing into the next thing, we make space for listening.
  • It reminds us we’re growing together. From the tiniest toddler milestones to the big lessons of adult life, we’re all learning side by side.

This challenge is less about the three things themselves and more about the joy of sharing them. It’s a gentle way to end the day connected, curious, and grateful for one another.

How to Do It

  1. Choose a time that works best—maybe after dinner, right before bed, or during your family wind-down.
  2. Take turns going around and saying three things you learned today.
  3. Encourage all ages to join in. For example:
    • “I learned how to put on my socks.”
    • “I learned where my cup belongs.”
    • “I learned the state capital of Georgia.”
    • “I learned how to reset the Wi-Fi router.”
  4. Parents can go first to model the rhythm.
  5. Keep it light and fun—it’s not a quiz, just a sweet way to connect.

Kid-Friendly Prompts

If your little ones get stuck, try prompting them with:

  • “What’s something new you can do now?”
  • “What’s one fact or idea you heard today?”
  • “What surprised you?”

For Those Doing This Alone

Not everyone has family nearby or someone joining them in these weekly challenges, and that’s okay. This practice works beautifully as a solo reflection too. Stand quietly at the kitchen sink, curl up in your favorite chair, or pause before bed and simply list three things you learned today.

Even the smallest observations count:

  • “I learned that I enjoy sitting in the sunshine.”
  • “I learned that taking one street instead of another makes the drive home more peaceful.”
  • “I learned that I feel better when I drink water before my coffee.”

It’s a gift to yourself to notice your growth, no matter how small, and it helps anchor you in gratitude for your day.

End of the Day Reflection Questionnaire is a simple, effective tool to capture daily learnings and boost personal growth.

Mid-Year Reset: Revisit Your 2025 Goals

Even though this is Week 36, it’s a wonderful time to pause and look back at your 2025 New Year’s resolutions.

  • Are you moving toward them?
  • Do they need a little adjusting?
  • Can you take one small step this week to bring yourself closer to them?

This daily reflection practice makes it easier to notice progress—even the tiniest steps—that are carrying you toward those bigger goals.

Jump In Anytime

If you’re new here, don’t worry—it’s never too late to join. Every week our family shares one simple challenge that’s helping us grow, and you’re invited to do it right along with us. Week 36 is the perfect time to jump in and start building this rhythm of reflection with your family—or simply with yourself.

What three things did you learn today? Share them in the comments—I’d love to hear!
