Week 39 Family Challenge: 3 Minutes of Stretching (Every Day)

stretching 3 minutes daily

This week’s challenge is a simple one—but one that makes a big difference. We’re committing to three minutes of stretching every day to support healthy routines, calm transitions, and stronger connections.

We first introduced this challenge in Week 3, and it’s one of those tiny habits worth repeating. Whether you’re new here or have been with us since Week 1, this is a great week to press pause and move with intention.

Why We’re Doing This Again

  • Small habits stick. When you start small, consistency is easier. And three minutes is doable for everyone.
  • Stretching relieves tension. It helps loosen stiff muscles, eases transitions from screen time to bedtime, and supports better sleep.
  • It models self-care. Our kids watch us pause and take care of the bodies God gave us—and that’s a lesson that goes far beyond flexibility.

How to Stretch (Simple & Modest)

Each day, choose a few gentle movements. Hold each stretch for about 30–45 seconds, or move slowly through them until you reach three minutes total.

  • Gently tilt your head side to side
  • Roll your shoulders backward and forward
  • Stretch each arm across your chest
  • Reach down toward the floor with soft knees
  • Press one heel back to stretch your calf
  • Sit in a chair and lift each leg one at a time

Tip: Add stretching to your evening wind-down—after brushing teeth, after your foot wash routine, or before bedtime prayers.

Stretching Together Builds Connection

This is a great week to gather as a household and stretch together. Even young children can follow along, and it often helps everyone slow down and reconnect.

But don’t stop there—this challenge works beautifully with family members who live elsewhere, or even friends, coworkers, or teams you want to grow closer to. These weekly rhythms help foster accountability, community, and care—at home first, and then outward.

All connection matters.

This Week’s Challenge

Stretch for three minutes every day this week.
Be consistent. Be gentle. Be present. This isn’t about fitness—it’s about connection and care.

Tell us in the comments: Did this feel easier than the first time? Did you invite someone new to join you? What stretch helped you most?

Ashley.
