We Prepare to Move: A Letter to Claire and Peter
Dear Claire and Peter,
As I sit down to write this, I find myself reflecting on the wonderful memories we’ve shared in our beloved home as we prepare to move. Just the other day, I watched you both from our deck as you enjoyed burning a stump in the yard with Grandma. Peter, I know how much you love that! Seeing the flames dance has brought us so much joy, and it warms my heart to witness the special bond you’re forming with her over such a simple yet captivating activity.
However, my sweet Claire, I sensed a little sadness when you shared your worries about the move. It’s completely natural to feel this way, especially since you cherish watching the Canada geese fly by from our yard every spring and fall.
When you said, “Mommy, I don’t want to move! What if we can’t see the geese from our new house?” it touched my heart.
Your genuine concern made me realize just how much our home—and its little wonders—mean to you.
As we navigate this change, it’s essential to remember that our journey isn’t just about relocating; it’s about the experiences we share and the lessons we learn together. I am so proud of you, Claire, for your passion for learning, especially as you dove into that bird book that’s well beyond your second-grade level! Your enthusiasm and curiosity inspire me every day, and it brings me immeasurable joy to see your love for birds blossoming.
Reflecting on our homeschooling adventure, I can confidently say it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made as a family. I used to spend nearly $17,000 a year for your education, but now we’re exploring so many enriching lessons together for a fraction of that cost. The freedom to learn in our own unique way has filled our days with fun, adventure, and excitement.
As we head into the new year, I look forward to sharing even more experiences with you, from birdwatching to our daily adventures. This journey we’re on together is rich with love, learning, and cherished moments. You both fill my heart with so much happiness, and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead for our family!
With all my love,
Mommy
As we continue our homeschooling journey, I wanted to share some wonderful books that might spark even more curiosity and excitement. We’ve discovered so many treasures together, and these books are full of engaging activities and lessons that go beyond the classroom. If you’re interested, you can take a look at a selection of my favorites here. Each one offers new ideas for us to explore, whether it’s about nature, history, or creative projects. To enhance our birdwatching experiences, I’m also excited to offer you a pair of binoculars here so we can observe our feathered friends up close. I can’t wait to dive into these with you both, and I’m sure they’ll add even more joy to our learning adventures!
