Camp Made Me Realize Something About Public School Moms (and Myself)
Camp Drop-Off Epiphany: Moms Aren’t Wrong — We’re All Just Solving the Same Puzzle, Differently
I’m a homeschooling mom — and I truly love this lifestyle. But this summer, my kids went to half-day camp for two weeks and let me tell you… I get it now. The calm. The quiet. The luxury of uninterrupted coffee. I had a realization: public school moms? They’re not “checking out.” They’re just a few evolutionary stages ahead. Enlightened. Thriving. Able to finish sentences.
But seriously, this mini taste of structured alone time has given me more clarity than a Pinterest quote at midnight. Not judgment — just awe.
Growing up, I spent hours under my mom’s real estate office desk with crayons and construction paper while she took calls and made deals. That’s where I learned how to shake hands, hold eye contact, and start reading the room. I didn’t have siblings my age or constant peer playdates. I had open houses and MLS listings. It was unconventional, but it worked. I thrived. And I’m proud of how much of that shaped my understanding of hard work and human relationships.

There’s No One Right Way — Just the Way That’s Right for You
So here’s the deal: whether you homeschool like we do, send your kids to school, private school, co-ops, nature pods, or some magical combo — there is no one right way. There’s just the best way you’ve found for your family, at this stage, with the tools and information you currently have.
And moms? We’re all trying to do the impossible every day:
- Raise kind humans
- Feed them actual food
- Maintain our sanity
- And maybe remember to drink water
Camp has shown me that every path has challenges. Morning routine? Still nuts. Packing lunches? Still chaos. Getting to bed on time? Ha. Whether you’re with your kids 24/7 or navigating school drop-offs, work hours, and evening activities, it’s all intense.
So, here’s to moms.
The evolved. The chaotic. The figuring-it-out-as-we-go.
We’re all doing just fine. 🙌
Love,
Ashley
